Redevelopment of Douglas Firstbrook Ellis Memorial Garden begins in mid-April

The redevelopment of the Douglas Firstbrook Ellis Memorial Garden at the corner of Ste-Catherine Street and Lansdowne Avenue, near the Westmount Recreation Centre will start the week of April 22, 2024, . The project is scheduled for completion in mid-September.

The garden is in honour of Douglas (‘Dougie’) Firstbrook Ellis, a young hockey player who was sexually abused by an employee of the City’s Sport and Recreation Department between the 1950s and 1990s. The garden also aims to raise community awareness of sexual abuse and violence.
