Waste Management
The term residual material, or waste, represents any material or object discarded by households, industries, businesses or institutions that is eliminated or reclaimed. This includes garbage, which is buried, and recuperable and putrescible materials that are recyclable, reusable or compostable.
The City of Westmount promotes a management of waste that reduces the amount of garbage sent to landfill. Residents are strongly encouraged to reduce their waste production at the source, meaning at home, at school and at work, by participating in all collections offered by the City.
