Water main breaks on Montrose, Mountain and Mount Pleasant Ave.* Update*

* Update April 29 at 10:00 a.m. *

The preventative boil water advisory for residences located on av. Montrose, between av. Argyle and av. Aberdeen Ave. is now lifted. The results of the tests carried out indicate that the water is potable and safe to drink.

IMPORTANT

  • Please ensure to let the water run from your taps for a few minutes to remove any possible sediment.

* Update April 26 at 10:30 a.m. *

The water leaks were all repaired during the night of April 25. Water service has been restored throughout the area. Temporary paving will be done next week on the sections of road damaged by the broken water mains.

The preventative boil water advisory for residences located on av. Montrose, between av. Argyle and av. Aberdeen Ave. is still in effect.  See map of affected residences

  • You must boil your tap water for at least one (1) minute before drinking it.
  • This preventive boil water advisory will remain in effect until the City of Westmount issues a notice that the advisory has been lifted.

* Update April 25 at 4:30 p.m. *

Following a water main break on the corner of Montrose and Argyle avenues and Montrose and Mountain avenues on April 25, the City of Westmount has issued a preventative boil water advisory for residences located on av. Montrose, between av. Argyle and av. Aberdeen Ave. See map of affected residences

* Update April 25 at 1 p.m. *

Repairs to the water leaks will begin this afternoon and should be completed by the end of the day.

The water service has been interrupted for a few residences on Montrose Ave., Mount Pleasant Ave., and Mountain Ave. Other residences in the area may also experience reduced water pressure if necessary for the repair work.

The Public Works Department is distributing water to the residences affected.

Two water main leaks at the corner of Montrose and Argyle and Montrose and Mountain avenues have caused flooding and road damage in the area.

The City’s public works teams are on site to assess the situation and stop the water leaks. Traffic signs will be installed to temporarily divert traffic.

There could be a significant drop in water pressure in some homes in the area.
