Bulky items
In the spring of 2021, Westmount launched a door-to-door bulky items collection to collect large household items. The collection aims to divert wood, ceramic and refrigeration items from landfill to recycle or revalue them.
2024 COLLECTIONS
Collections take place during the first weeks of the months of May to October, and by registration only as of 2024.
Bulky items must be placed street side (not in lanes) before 7 a.m. on collection days.
- WOODEN ITEMS
Wardrobe, bookcase, desk, chair (non-upholstered), dresser, door, window frame, table, pallet and planks (with nails removed) - REFRIGERATING APPLIANCES
Refrigerator/freezer (> 2.5 ft3), plug-in air conditioning unit, water distributor, wine cooler, and dehumidifier - CERAMIC ITEMS
Bathtub, toilet bowl and sink
- METAL ITEMS – SCRAP METAL DEALER OR ECOCENTRE
Stove, dishwasher, washer, dryer, filing cabinet, barbecue (without gas tank), bicycle, hot water tank, gardening tools, sink and safe - CONSTRUCTION, RENOVATION AND DEMOLITION MATERIALS – ECOCENTRE
Brick, stone, soil, asphalt, concrete, drywall, flat glass, etc. - UPHOLSTERED OR GLASS ITEMS – DONATION CENTRE OR HOUSEHOLD GARBAGE
Sofa, mattress, cushion, rug, textiles, glass table, toys, plastic furniture, etc. - HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE (HHW) – ECOCENTRE
Paint, motor oil, pesticides and fertilizers, propane tank, pool products, tires, etc. - ELECTRONIC WASTE – ECOCENTRE
Television, computer, printer, fax machine, sound system, etc.
DEPOT SITES
The Bethune Street Public Works yard depot has been closed since March 2019, but there are several locations in or near the City that accept bulky items.
