Access to Documents

If you wish to obtain a copy of a document held by the City of Westmount, we ask that you fill in our online form below.

As a public body, the City is subject to An Act respecting Access to Documents held by Public Bodies and the Protection of Personal Information (chapter A-2.1). It has twenty (20) days to answer your request. However, in some cases, this delay may be extended up to 30 days.

For more information, please consult the website of the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec (available only in French).

This form, the use of which is optional, is available to persons who wish to submit an application to a public body in order to access to an administrative document or to personal information.

The information you supply under section “Identification of the applicant” will be kept confidential and will exclusively be known by authorized personnel in charge of your request.

If you have difficulty identifying the document you are looking for, or if you wish to obtain information concerning the Act respecting Access to documents held by public bodies and the Protection of personal information, you may contact the person in charge of the public body to which you are submitting the application.

Your application may be submitted verbally or in writing to the person in charge, but it must be sufficiently specific to allow him or her to reply. For instance, you can mention the title of the document you are looking for, the name of its author, or the subject dealt with. Only written requests may be revised in front of the Commission d’accès à l’information.

Upon receipt of this form or any other written request the person in charge will send you an acknowledgement of receipt. The response time fixed by the Act is 20 days, which can be extended by 10 days.

The requests to access to document are free. However, a public body may charge a fee not exceeding the cost of transcribing, transmitting or copying the document. The person in charge of access will give you the required information before proceeding.
