Picture of the Belvedere Road

The Belvedere Road garden waste depot will open on Monday, March 31.

It will be open Monday to Friday between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. for contractors with a City permit, and residents with proof of residency. Yard waste can also be taken to an Ecocentre, or kept on your property (not streetside) until door-to-door collection returns.

ACCEPTED MATERIALS:

  • Residue from the spring garden clean-up and other landscaping activities
  • Residue from de-thatching your lawn
  • Residue from your vegetable garden or fruit trees
  • Small branches up to 5 cm in diameter, not exceeding 1.2 metres in length
  • Weeds and grass trimmings

REFUSED MATERIALS:

  • Tree logs or branches larger than 5 cm diameter and longer than 1.2 metres
  • branches tied with plastic or metal rope
  • residues in plastic bags
  • soil, rocks and pebbles

Please note that yard waste contaminated with any type of refused waste will be refused in its entirety.

Door-to-door collection of garden waste has still not resumed, and an announcement from the City will be made when it will start again for the year. For the time being, it is forbidden to place garden waste street side. A reminder that it is also strictly prohibitedto dispose of green waste, or any other type of waste, in public garbage cans or on public spaces (streets, alleys, sidewalks, parks, green spaces, etc.) under penalty of fines. Surveillance and ticketing have been increased in order to fight illegal dumping.

The City reserves the right to deny access to the Belvedere depot to any contractor not complying with the above guidelines or any other municipal by-law.
