Deployment of Speed Display Signs

radar speed display sign

Starting in November 2025, radar speed display signs will be deployed at various locations throughout the City.

The Traffic and Mobility team is pleased to announce the acquisition of several radar speed display signs.

Installation of the signs began in November 2025 at various locations throughout the City, including on Sherbrooke Street West, est of Roslyn, and on Victoria Avenue, south of The Boulevard. The signs will be moved to new locations in December. Details for the continuation of the programme in 2026 will be confirmed after the adoption of the annual municipal budget.

An important objective of this programme is to provide targeted road safety optimisation. In areas where the data collected does not justify the installation of a permanent traffic calming measure, these signs are used to raise awareness among drivers and encourage voluntary speed reduction. Furthermore, on streets where slopes or geometric constraints limit the implementation of other measures (e.g., speed bumps), these signs offer an effective alternative.
