Canada Post Strike: Measures in place for the distribution of voter reminder cards

Sign to vote for the 2025 elections

Due to the ongoing strike at Canada Post, the Office of the Returning Officer has implemented measures to ensure that all voters receive the necessary information to exercise their voting rights.

Distribution of Reminder Cards

An electoral notice, also called a reminder card, was distributed to every address within the City’s territory. This document contains the following information:

  • The names of the voters registered at that address on the electoral list
  • The locations, dates, and times of the Revision Board

Municipal employees conducted a door-to-door distribution on October 9 to ensure all voters received their voter card on time.

  • For detached buildings, the voter registration cards was left in the building’s mailbox or at the main entrance.
  • For multi-unit buildings, a large envelope containing all individual voter registration cards was left near the mailboxes or at the main entrance.

Verify Your Registration on the Electoral List

Individuals can verify whether they are properly registered on the electoral list in several ways:

  • On the Élections Québec website
  • In person, at City Hall, on October 6, 8, 14, or 15, during business hours
  • By phone, at 514 989-5280

Please note that the identity of the requester must be validated by phone (residential address, date of birth, etc.) or in person (presentation of a photo ID with address) to confirm registration on the electoral list.

Revision Board

If the information on your voter registration card is inaccurate or incomplete, or if a member of your household is missing, you must appear before the Revision Board to request registration, correction, or removal.

The Revision Board will sit at Westmount City Hall (4333 Sherbrooke Street West) on:

  • October 16, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • October 17, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • October 21, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.—for registration only.

Mobile Polling: For persons with reduced mobility

Mobile polling is offered to voters unable to travel due to health or mobility reasons. A mobile electoral team, composed of a scrutineer and a secretary, will visit the concerned establishments and homes on October 28 to allow eligible persons to vote on-site.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Be registered on the electoral list as a resident of the municipality
  • Be unable to travel due to health or mobility issues
  • Have submitted a signed request to the Chief Electoral Officer (elections@westmount.org) no later than October 17, 2025, either by the voter themselves or by a caregiver

Request forms are available on the City’s website or can be sent upon request.

Important:
Our resources on the mobile polling day will be limited. We kindly ask those who are able to travel to vote in person during the scheduled advance polling days October 24 and 26 or on election day, November 2, at the official polling stations, all of which are accessible to persons with reduced mobility. This will allow us to reserve our mobile voting team to assist voters who are confined to their homes in exercising their right to vote.
