Project Launched to Improve Road Signage

Bad stop sign to be changed

The City adopts a proactive approach to identify problematic signs.

In April 2025, the City launched a project aimed at improving the safety and efficiency of its road network. A collaborative effort between the City's Project Office, Public Safety Department, Public Works Department, and the Geomatics Division of the Information Technology Department resulted in the development of a tool to proactively identify road signs requiring attention.

This initiative seeks to quickly pinpoint damaged or illegible signs, such as:

  • Signs obstructed by vegetation
  • Damaged signposts
  • Faded or illegible lettering

By adopting this proactive approach, the City ensures better management of its signage assets. Interventions to repair or replace these signs began the week of October 9, 2025, and are targeted for completion by the week of January 31, 2026 (or sooner).

This project is part of a continuous effort to ensure safety and clear signage for all road users.
