The City of Westmount has madated the Agence de mobilité durable de Montréal to conduct a study of public on-street parking along The Boulevard. The objective is to better understand public parking occupancy in this area.
Collection vehicles, identified by the Agency's logo and the words ‘Étude de mobilité,’ will be circulating on city streets during the month of October 2025. These vehicles will not issue tickets, as their sole purpose is to collect data. To analyse the use of on-street parking, the study will rely on automated licence plate recognition (ALPR) technology.
This technology will only be used to identify whether a parking space is available or occupied. It will not be possible to identify vehicle owners. The licence plates collected will mainly be used to identify whether a vehicle is still parked in the same space several hours in a row. No personal data will be collected by the Agency through these technologies. All data will be anonymised and will only be used to understand the use of on-street parking. All data will be collected in accordance with the Act respecting Access to documents held by public bodies and the Protection of personal information (RLRQ, c A-21).
This study will help the City make informed decisions regarding parking management and improvement. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Westmount Assistance at assistance@westmount.org or 514 989-5200.
