New Traffic Calming Measures and Signage Near Schools

The City of Westmount is implementing new road improvements to enhance safety around schools.

These trial tactical measures are based on recommendations from the Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC) and address concerns raised in the 2023 school zone safety survey, particularly regarding dangerous driving behaviours like speeding and unsafe passing.

These interventions will include the installation of traffic calming measures, such as road markings, bollards, planters, and other street furniture.

To complete most of these installations before the start of the school year, work began during the week of August 11, 2025, and will continue until early September.

The following intersections will be affected by these improvements:

  • Metcalfe Avenue & Côte-Saint-Antoine Road
  • Metcalfe Avenue & Sherbrooke Street W.
  • Kensington Avenue & Côte-Saint-Antoine Road
  • Argyle Avenue & Côte-Saint-Antoine Road
  • Montrose Avenue & Clarke Avenue
  • Montrose Avenue & Mont Pleasant Avenue
  • Church Hill Avenue & Côte-Saint-Antoine Road
  • Forden Avenue & Côte-Saint-Antoine Road
  • Béthune Avenue & Sainte-Catherine Street

Thank you for your cooperation and patience during the completion of this work.
