Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Collection April 26

Shelves full of hazardous household products

New location! This spring, the collection will take place in the parking lot of the Montreal Oral School for the Deaf.

The household hazardous waste and electronics collection will take place on Saturday, April 26, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. in the parking lot at 4670 Sainte-Catherine Street West. 

Accepted Materials

  • Household hazardous waste, i.e. any toxic, corrosive, reactive or flammable material
  • Electronic waste (not to be confused with purely electrical appliances)
  • Car and van tires *Newly accepted this year
  • Regular-size refrigerators (over 2.5 ft3) and plug-in air conditioners *Newly accepted this year

Refused Materials

  • Electrical, but not electronic appliances: small appliances, coffee makers, hair dryers, vacuum cleaners, etc.
  • Biomedical waste
  • Clothing and household items
  • Mini refrigerators and freezers (less than 2.5 ft3) and wall or central air conditioners

It is each person's responsibility to leave with their non-accepted items, as well as boxes and bags used to transport materials, as these will not be collected.

Electronic waste will be collected the same day through the EPRA-Quebec’s Recycle my electronics program. Electronic waste includes computers, phones, printers, etc. It does not include small appliances.

Household hazardous waste is also accepted at all times at Montreal’s ecocentres and specific materials are accepted by some retailers (e.g., batteries, propane tanks).
