Every small action counts! The City's Environment Team shares a few tips to lighten your trash can and reduce landfill waste.
Candy wrappers?
All wrappers (even for chips) go in the recycling bin! Since January 1, 2025, all packaging, containers, and printed materials go in the blue bin. No need to check the number on the packaging or see if it stretches.
Pumpkins?
Compost them through the food waste or garden waste collection!
Small broken decorations?
Bring them to our recycling station located in the Westmount Recreation Centre, and they will be recycled in partnership with Go Zero Recycle. See accepted items
Candy surplus?
Avoid waste! Freeze them or use them in your sweet recipes (cookies, cupcakes, or popcorn or nut mixes). As a last resort, compost them.
