As part of our ongoing efforts to ensure the health and safety of our parks, approximately twenty trees will be removed starting the week of August 4 in two areas: Westmount Park and the Westmount Athletic Grounds (WAG).
These targeted interventions follow thorough inspections conducted by certified arboriculture specialists. The selected trees are in an advanced state of decline due to factors such as natural aging, physiological diseases, structural weaknesses, or infestations by boring insects. Some trees also pose a risk to public safety or threaten the integrity of nearby buildings and facilities.
All removed trees will be replaced as part of a planned replanting initiative aimed at maintaining the ecological balance of the site and preserving the ecosystem services these trees provided to the community.
Please note that the WAG dog park will need to be temporarily closed to allow the work to be carried out safely. An official notice will be issued 24 to 48 hours prior to the closure.
