Update—March 23, 2026: All available trees have been reserved. Thank you!
The City of Westmount offers a free tree to residents through the Special Tree Distribution programme.
Each year, the City of Westmount offers residents a selection of trees, while supplies last. Again this year, the tree selection is composed entirely of native species that greatly benefit the local urban ecosystem.
Please note that the number of trees is limited and will be made available on a first-come, first-served basis, and trees will be delivered by early May.
Trees offered by the City under this programme must be planted on private property within the City of Westmount, may not be resold, and are not intended for commercial use. The trees delivered are in good health. Please note, however, that if the tree you receive dies, the City will not be liable to replace it.
The City of Westmount is collaborating with a doctoral researcher at the Faculty of Forestry in the Settled & Urban Landscapes Lab at University of Toronto on a national survey to understand the experiences of receiving and taking care of trees from residential tree planting programmes. If you received a tree from our programme previously or this year, your participation in this 5-minute survey would be greatly appreciated. Your comments and responses are invaluable.
The purpose of this survey is to receive feedback and improve on the experience of taking care of trees on residential land. This survey will run from March to November 2026.
