Westmount Hosts the Table de concertation du Mont-Royal

The latest meeting of the Table de concertation du Mont-Royal was held at this Thursday, November 20 at Victoria Hall.

As a member of this group, Westmount is one of several stakeholders that meet regularly to discuss the implementation of a protected man-made landscape status for the Mont Royal and ensure the harmonious management and development of this heritage site.

Among the topics discussed at the November 20th meeting was the establishment of a protection status, Man-made Lanscape, to help preserve the biodiversity of an area which has been shaped over time by human activities in harmony with nature. This status is governed by the Natural Heritage Conservation Act and is recognised by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) which drives conservation and sustainable development action at an international scale.

The Table de concertation du Mont-Royal meets several times a year and brings together representatives from institutions, associations, governments and municipalities closely tied to the management and development of Mount Royal.
