4:15 p.m. update
Crews are fully mobilized on site to repair the gas leak and restore electricity to the Alexis Nihon and Westmount Square area. Due to the highly complex nature of the incident and the delicate interventions required, the operation is taking longer than anticipated.
We currently expect a return to normal this evening.
We thank you for your patience and remind you that local road closures remain in effect for everyone's safety.
The Alexis Nihon shopping complex and Westmount Square are currently without electricity due to ongoing repair work following a gas line break in the area.
This precautionary measure was implemented at the request of the Service Incendie de Montréal (Montreal Fire Department). Crews are actively working on mises hors tension (de-energizing) and line transfers to reduce the impact on customers.
Impact and Traffic:
Approximately 1 422 clients are affected by the power outage.
Streets surrounding Alexis Nihon are currently closed, resulting in significant traffic congestion. Motorists are strongly advised to use alternate routes.
At this time, there is no confirmed timeline for the completion of gas line repairs or the restoration of electricity.
We will provide an update as soon as more information on the restoration timeline becomes available.
