Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the Montreal Island area from Wednesday, March 11 to Thursday, March 12, due to the risk of a prolonged period of freezing rain.
Precipitation is expected to begin early Wednesday morning, between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m., continuing steadily throughout the day, and ending early Thursday morning. Forecasts indicate potential ice accumulations of 10 to 20 mm. With no significant thaw expected on Thursday and Friday, icy conditions may persist on surfaces. Winds of around 20 km/h, with gusts up to 50 km/h, are also expected on Wednesday and Thursday.
City teams are monitoring the situation closely and preparing to respond if needed.
