Bed Bugs at the Library: Update

The second phase of the bed bug eradication protocol at the Public Library is proceeding according to schedule. This intervention is occurring exactly 21 days after the first treatment on March 11. Adhering to this strict interval is a scientific requirement to interrupt the natural reproduction cycle of the pests and ensure a healthy and safe environment for everyone.

Next Steps Toward Reopening

  • On the weekend of April 4-5, a thorough clean of the entire building, including all public areas and workspaces, will take place.
  • Early in the week of April 6, the building will be reassessed to ensure that the facilities are ready to welcome the public back. The official reopening date will be communicated afterwards.

Important Reminders:

  • Borrowed Items: Patrons are asked to continue holding onto their borrowed items for the time being. Outside book drops remain locked and cannot accept returns. No accounts will be blocked during this period.
  • Online Services: The Library online collection, including e-books, audiobooks, and online databases, remains accessible 24/7 on the Library website.
  • Atwater Library: the Atwater Library continues to offer free temporary borrowing privileges to all Westmounters during this closure.

The City thanks patrons for their patience, understanding, and continued support throughout this rigorous process to protect the integrity of the Library.
