Holiday Food Drive Benefitting the Westmount Community

Two Public Safety officers collect donations

Give generously: Westmount Public Safety's annual holiday food drive is officially underway!

Giving Tuesday Events

Westmount Public Safety welcomes your donations at their kiosk:

  • Tuesday, December 2, in front of Metro grocery on Victoria Avenue
  • Wednesday, December 3, in front of IGA grocery at Alexis Nihon
  • Thursday, December 4, in front of Les 5 Saisons grocery on Greene Avenue

Consult the events calendar for details.

Again this year, the City's Public Safety officers are organising a holiday food drive benefitting families and individuals in need in Westmount. The food drive officially kicked off on November 8 with a table at the door of the Artisans Westmount event where a donation was requested as the entrance fee. Thank you to everyone who already contributed food and cash donations during this event!

Any donation of goods or cash will be gratefully accepted. Here are some suggestions:

  • rolled oats and other breakfast cereals;
  • pancake mix and maple syrup;
  • peanut or nut butters, tuna and other proteins;
  • tomatoes, sauces, soups, stews, and other canned goods;
  • dry or canned beans and pulses;
  • noodles, rice and other grains;
  • cake mix and icing, canned fruit, honey;
  • gluten-free foods and ready-to-eat foods;
  • toothpaste, sanitary products, hand creams and other toiletry items.

Please, no expired items!

Until December 7, donations may be dropped off in the bins located in municipal buildings:

  • Westmount Recreation Centre (4675 Sainte-Catherine Street West)
  • Victoria Hall (4626 Sherbrooke Street West)
  • Westmount Public Library (4574 Sherbrooke Street West)
  • City Hall (4333 Sherbrooke Street West)
  • Public Safety office (21 Stanton Street, 2nd floor)

Anyone who would like to have their donated items picked up by a Public Safety officer may phone 514 989-5200 and leave their coordinates to register for doorstep pickup.

The Public Safety Department works with CLSC Métro, which identifies families in the community that can benefit from food baskets.

Thank you for your generosity!
