Partial Demolition of the Production Greenhouses
During the September 9 Council meeting, a contract was awarded to the demolition contractor Delsam-AIM for the partial demolition of the former production greenhouses.
The building is located behind the Conservatory and Heritage Greenhouses, near Westmount Park tennis courts. The building, which has been vacant and out of service for many years, suffers from advanced deterioration and safety issues.

Work Schedule and Timeline
Work will begin in October and is expected to take 3 to 4 weeks.
Perimeter Security and Preserved Sections
Fencing will be reinstalled around the perimeter of the demolished building's foundations. Certain sections of the production greenhouses are not included in the demolition plan and will continue to be occasionally used by the City’s horticulture team. Part of the mechanical and electrical room in the basement of these sections will also remain operational. Plywood panels will cover access doors to the preserved portions of the building.
Reconstruction
No reconstruction or replacement project is planned at this time. The City is currently evaluating various options for the future use of this space and will keep residents informed once clear directions are established.
