Heritage Building Inventory: Photos taken in Westmount
Staff from the Inventory Section of the Ville de Montreal's Heritage Division are currently photographing building exteriors throughout Westmount as part of the inventory of heritage buildings coordinated by the Montreal Agglomeration. This initiative is being carried out under the provincial Cultural Heritage Act, amended in 2021, with the goal of better documenting and preserving heritage buildings constructed before 1940.
Photographs will be taken primarily from public property (streets, sidewalks and lanes) and will concern exterior views only. In certain cases, temporary access to private property may be required to ensure adequate visibility of a building or architectural feature.
Residents are asked not to be alarmed if they observe individuals photographing properties in connection with this official initiative. The individuals conducting this work have been officially mandated to do so as part of the Montreal agglomeration’s heritage inventory. Photography activities will take place on weekdays only and not on weekends. These operations may continue through the winter.
Reminder: the City of Westmount adopted, by resolution on September 8, 2025, a list of buildings constructed before 1940 that have heritage value, developed in collaboration with the Montreal agglomeration. This list has been officially adopted by the Conseil d'Agglomération de Montréal.
