Invasive Plant Species Control Work at Summit Woods

Throughout the summer, the City of Westmount will be carrying out invasive plant species control work in Summit Woods.

A variety of techniques will be used depending on the area, including hand-pulling, tarping, and mowing. These interventions are intended to limit the spread of invasive plant species and promote biodiversity by supporting the growth of native plants, which often struggle to compete with invasive species.

As part of this work, two red containers have been placed near Summit Woods to store the plant material being removed. Residents are asked not to handle or disturb the contents of these containers in order to prevent the accidental spread of invasive species.

The City thanks residents for their cooperation in helping protect and preserve this natural area.
