Born to Bloom

• The programme is open exclusively to Westmount residents.
• Applications must be submitted by December 31 of the year of the child's birth or adoption.

For 2026, the available species are:

• Sugar Maple (Acer saccharum)
• Eastern Pine (Pinus strobus)
• Mulberry (Morus alba)

The City reserves the right to modify the list of available species during the year.

• Option 1 - Private Property: If the request is approved and the tree species is available, the City will provide the tree to the resident. The resident will be responsible for planting and maintaining the tree on their private property in accordance with City regulations.
  
• Option 2 - City Park: The resident may also request that the tree be planted in a City park. Please note: In this case, the City’s Public Works Department will determine the tree species and the park in which it will be planted. The City will also be responsible for maintaining the tree, including removing it if necessary.

Once the tree is planted, the child's name can be featured on Westmount's interactive urban forest map.

Delivery and planting of trees will take place in the spring of the year following the request.

• For a tree to be planted on private property: Upon receiving your request, the Public Works Department will contact you by email to confirm tree availability and schedule delivery.
• For trees to be planted in municipal parks: Planting will be carried out by the Public Works team.

Residents are responsible for maintaining trees planted on their private property and must comply with Westmount’s by-laws regarding tree removal and the protection of the City's canopy.

Note: If the tree is planted in a municipal park, it is prohibited to place plaques, mementos, or other objects near or on the tree.

The tree is provided free of charge by the City.
