Finding Yourself
In celebration of this year's McEntyre Creative Writing Competition's theme Finding Yourself, the Visual Arts Centre organized inspiring art workshops for more than 200 students from Saint-Léon-de-Westmount, Westmount Park Elementary, and Selwyn House schools.
During three sessions, students constructed a mixed-media artwork using gouache, collage, and gel pens to represent both who they are and who they hope to become. The project encouraged them to explore how multiple ideas, places, people, and emotions can coexist within a single artwork. Rather than searching for a fixed sense of self, students were invited to reflect on their dreams, engage with memories, and consider the many influences that continue to shape who they are.
We are delighted to share these creative and moving artworks with the community—let’s celebrate the vision and creativity of our young artists!
