In collaboration with Funambules Médias and the Conseil des arts de Montréal en tournée.

Join us in Westmount Park for a screening of the documentary film Deep Rising (2023) under the stars. Don’t forget to bring your chair or blanket!

Deep Rising delves into one of the most obscure industrial exploits of our century: deep-sea mining. In the name of the ecological transition, companies are embarking on a frantic race for the rights to extract marine nodules. Formed over millions of years and rich in rare metals essential for battery production, these resources lie in a fragile ecosystem several kilometres below the surface.

Directed by Nyon-based filmmaker Matthieu Rytz, Deep Rising traces several decades of manipulations by greedy corporations, punctuated by breathtaking images of deep-sea organisms.

2023, USA, 84 minutes, English, French subtitles
