Westmount supports Vélo Québec’s Cycliste averti programme

Westmount City Council members are proud to support the implementation of Vélo Québec’s cycling education programme in schools, to take place at École Saint-Léon-de-Westmount

Developed and coordinated by Vélo Québec, Cycliste averti, a cycling education program aimed at grade 5 and 6 elementary students, is designed to make them independent and safety-conscious when biking to and from school, but also to reassure parents about their children’s ability to get around safely in their environment. Offered in schools, the program combines bicycle safety theory with group outings, allowing students to acquire practical experience on the road safely.

The programme offered in several Montreal schools, has received funding from Québec en Forme, Montréal physiquement active, the CAA-Québec Foundation and the Société d’assurance automobile du Québec.
