Westmount Summer Camp 2020
In accordance with the Quebec government’s health and safety directives related to COVID-19, we are very proud to announce that the City of Westmount will be offering summer camp to children aged 6 to 12 years for the 2020 summer season.
Due to the very rigid guidelines set forth, camp capacity must be reduced to adhere to the proper camper to counsellor ratios as well as the physical space required for proper distancing. Therefore, there will be a maximum capacity of 68 children per session and there will be no Counsellor in Training (CIT) programme offered this summer.
Camp details:
The City of Westmount will be offering four two-week camp sessions from June 29th through August 21st.
The camp will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The cost for each two week session is $300. ($150/week)
The camp is offered to children from 6 to 12 years old. Each child will be limited to one session at the time of registration.
The two week sessions will allow for fewer turnover of children throughout the summer, reducing the interaction between multiple campers and counsellors thus reducing the risk of potential health concerns.
Key points to note for camp this summer:
- Lowered capacity (68 children/session)
- Lowered camper/monitor ratio (5:1 and 6:1)
- Prioritize outdoor activities
- Facilities & activities adapted to promote physical distancing at all times
- Limited interaction between groups
- No sharing of equipment or materials
- No daytrips
- No pool activities
- Strict adherence to hygiene etiquette (handwashing, coughing, etc…)
- Disinfection of regularly touched objects and surfaces.
Registration for camp will be online beginning at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, June 9th.
Online accounts must be activated prior to registration so please contact recreation@westmount.org for details if you have not yet activated your account for 2020.
We know this has been an incredibly challenging time for everyone and especially for kids who miss school, sports and their friends. The process of deconfinement causes a lot of stress but please rest assured we have worked hard to adjust to these new norms to keep your children safe and offer them a fun program that will allow them to be outside, to be busy and make camp friends.
