Hooked on School Days – February 10-14, 2025

For Hooked on School Days (February 10-14, 2025), the City is highlighting the Westmount Public Library’s commitment to helping young people succeed.

  • The Library plays a key role in supporting our youth by offering them an environment that fosters learning and personal development. The newly renovated teen section at the Library is designed to provide a welcoming and stimulating environment for all teens. Also, every young person attending a Westmount school can benefit from a free library card, opening the door to a world of discovery and knowledge.
  • Volunteer opportunities at the Library encourage young people to get actively involved in their community. Whether it’s to enrich their experience or to accumulate community service hours required by their school programme, these activities allow young people to develop useful skills while contributing to a dynamic and inspiring environment.
  • Another long-standing community  project for local youth is the McEntyre Writing Competition, which invites students to explore their creativity through words. The competition focuses on the joy of writing and values the originality of participants, giving them a platform to express their imagination. Submissions to the 2025 competition are open until March 30.
  • In the fall of 2024, the Library also inaugurated the Studio, a space dedicated to creation and innovation. Located next to the teen section, the Studio offers a varied programme of workshops in robotics, electronics, textile arts and 3D printing. This space encourages hands-on learning and skill development, under the guidance of passionate facilitators.

The City of Westmount is proud to support these initiatives which encourage young people to stay in school and develop a love for learning.

Hooked on School Days is a Quebec initiative that highlights the fundamental role we all play in motivating young people. The 21st edition takes place from February 10 to 14, 2025.
