Ville de Montréal: Public consultation on safety for school zones

The Commission sur le transport et les travaux publics (the committee) has been mandated (CE23 0406) to hold a public consultation on safety of school zones. The committee would like to consult Montrealers, especially parents and crossing guards, on safety measures for primary and secondary school zones and active mobility.
Anyone interested in the consultation is invited to follow the steps of the consultation process at makingmtl.ca/waytoschool.
Step 1 – Obtain information
The consultation document will be presented during a public information session.
- Date and time: Wednesday, October 25, 2023, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
- Place: Council chamber, city hall (Lucien-Saulnier building), 155, rue Notre-Dame Est, Montréal (Québec) H2Y 1B5
- Livestream: The public session will be livestreamed and archived at ville.montreal.qc.ca/cheminecole.
The presentation will be followed by a question period. To take part in the question period, register using the online form or onsite, as of 6:30 p.m.
Step 2 – Share your views: various ways to give your input
You can share your views on the subject of the consultation in the following ways:
1- Present an opinion to the committee during public hearings scheduled on:
- Tuesday, January 16, 2024, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. – By videoconference
- Wednesday, January 17, 2024, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. – In person: Council chamber, city hall (Lucien-Saulnier building), 155, rue Notre-Dame Est
- Monday, January 29, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. – By videoconference
You are required to register to present an opinion during the sessions. To register, please fill out the online form or call 514 872-3000. The registration deadline is Monday, December 4, 2023, at 5 p.m.
2- Submit an opinion by email, by mail, or in person to:

Written opinions, or opinions in audio or video files, must be submitted no later than Friday, February 2, 2024 at 5:00 p.m.
3- Complete the online questionnaire or share your experiences using the tools available at makingmtl.ca/waytoschool.
Step 3 – Attend the public session for the adoption of the recommendations
The committee will publicly present and adopt its recommendations in a final public meeting.
- Date and time: Wednesday, March 20, from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Place: Council chamber, city hall (Lucien-Saulnier building), 155, rue Notre-Dame Est, Montréal (Québec) H2Y 1B5
- Livestream: The public session will be livestreamed and archived at ville.montreal.qc.ca/cheminecole.
The draft recommendations and the form for submitting a question or a comment will be available the day of the meeting as of 9 a.m. at ville.montreal.qc.ca/cheminecole.
Drop-in daycare
- A drop-in daycare service will be offered on request for all the public sessions that will be held at Lucien-Saulnier building;

Accessibility
- The Lucien-Saulnier building has a level no-step door entry, an automatic door, parking and accessible bathrooms;
- The council chamber is accessible to persons with reduced mobility;
- The council chamber is equipped with hearing aid measures;
- An interpretation service in Québec sign language (LSQ) or American Sign Language (ASL) is available on request, subject to the availability of interpreters. To request the service, please contact the Service du greffe five days in advance;
