Sports and Recreation: Cancellation of 2020 spring programmes
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak and associated measures, the City of Westmount’s Sports and Recreation Department must, unfortunately, cancel all spring programming. This includes all outdoor activities like soccer and baseball, and all indoor activities like fitness classes, dance, yoga etc. for youth and adults.
As the City of Westmount is following the recommendations from La Direction de la santé publique in the fight against the spread of COVID-19, more news will come as to the direction that will be taken regarding scheduled summer programmes and activities such as summer camp, tennis and swimming lessons, ice related activities at the WRC, as well as Victoria Hall programmes, and the opening of the playing fields, tennis courts and municipal pool.
For now, all group activities are still prohibited in the Province of Quebec.
When these safety measures begin to ease, the Sports and Recreation Department will look at the possibility of running a modified outdoor soccer programme later in the season. Should this be a possibility, details will be emailed to all current registered participants.
Also, an email will soon be sent to all registered participants in our spring and past winter sports and recreation programmes regarding refunds or credits for cancellations.
Residents are strongly encouraged to follow basic hygiene measures, such as frequent hand washing, social distancing, avoiding indoor and outdoor gatherings, and following all instructions and recommendations from Public Health authorities. For more details, consult SANTEMONTREAL.CA/CORONAVIRUS.
We are looking forward to seeing all of you again once social isolation has been lifted.
Stay safe and be well.
