Safe use of toboggan run and ice rinks

This year’s tobogganing runs and skating rinks have been a massive hit amongst our Westmount residents, young and old. With the increase of COVID-19 cases across the province, it is extremely important to respect and follow the  recommended health measures.

It is imperative that we keep all the parks available to all our residents, and continue to offer and maintain our winter facilities. Enjoying the outdoors is a privilege that Westmounters fully appreciate and engage in every day. Because safety is our top priority, signage are installed at the skating rinks and toboggan run with rules and opening hours. Please respect these rules to keep everyone safe, especially our children.

Skating Rinks Rules:

  • Individual skating only
  • Do not gather
  • Maintain a 2 m distance with others
  • Wear a face covering
  • Follow signage instructions
  • Please be courteous and patient
  • Hockey is not permitted on rinks or in parks
  • Team activities are not permitted on rinks or in parks

Toboggan Run Rules:

  • Do not gather on the hill
  • Maintain a 2 m distance with others
  • Wear a face covering
  • Bring a proper luge, toboggan, sleigh
  • Follow signage instructions
  • Please be courteous and patient

PLEASE NOTE: Tobogganing IS NOT PERMITTED on the slope west of King George Park toboggan run for safety reasons. The west side of the hill is deemed too dangerous because the slope does not flatten at the bottom, so there is no way to limit or control the speed of descent. Due to the high probability of grave injury, it is closed to tobogganers. We ask everyone to please respect the signs and regulations and NOT TO TAKE DOWN the fencing.

Due to the Gouvernement du Québec COVID-19 curfew, all park activities will end every day at 7:30 p.m. From Saturday, January 9 until February 8.
