After a heavy snowfall, the City’s Public Works teams will proceed with nighttime snow removal operations. This is in order to increase efficiency, safety and to diminish congestion.
Depending on some areas, snow removal will start at 3 a.m. in school zones, in commercial areas and in certain residential streets. Tow truck sirens will go silent between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.
Please take note of the new signage on lamp posts and on the pickets in the snow banks.
Your cooperation makes a difference in the efficiency of our snow removal operations. Thank you for your patience and understanding during these operations.
We ask everyone to please pay particular attention to the following directives during this period:
Snow removal: Snow from private driveways and walkways may be added to the existing snow banks prior to their removal, but must never obstruct public sidewalks, lanes or streets. Fines may be levied on homeowners and/or contractors who contravene these regulations. On collection days, please ensure that your materials are placed in a way that does not hinder the clearing of sidewalks, streets and lanes. Your cooperation makes a difference in the efficiency of our snow removal operations.
Parking: Advance warning of snow loading operations is indicated by flashing or fixed lights on major thoroughfares and by the installation of special no-parking signs on local streets. Please check carefully in the days following a heavy snowfall and pay attention to the temporary orange signage; parked vehicles that hinder snow removal operations will be towed.
