Reminder – Garbage collection every two (2) weeks from to October to May

As part of the Clean Westmount Initiative, garbage collection will be carried out every two weeks for single-family homes and buildings with 2 to 8 units from October 2024 to May 2025. This change is part of the City’s commitment to improving waste management and aims to encourage more eco-responsible practices within the community.

Many contaminants are being sent to landfills instead of being recycled or composted: recyclable materials, food waste, garden waste and bulky items. By collecting household garbage less frequently during the cooler months, the City wants to encourage better sorting practices and increase participation in other collections, such as the food waste and recycling collections, that are remaining weekly.

Information kiosks will soon be set up across the City to answer all your questions and inform you about the best waste management practices to adopt and the City’s green initiatives, such as the green grant program, which reimburses part of the purchasing costs of black rolling bins for garbage.
