Trimming of public trees as of April 25
As part of the tree maintenance programme, the City will carry out trimming work on some of the City owned trees starting the week of April 25, 2022. The work will be carried out with the help of an external contractor.
Residents near the trees to be trimmed will receive a notification to advise them of the work that will be carried out.
Please pay attention to the no parking signage that will be installed to allow access for machinery and reduce the risk of accidental damage.
About Trimming
Trimming is an important part of Westmount’s regular tree maintenance and urban forest management. Trimming improves the health and prolongs the life of trees while also contributing to their structural stability. In urban areas, trimming is necessary to remove dead, broken or split limbs and to prevent branches from interfering with wires, buildings, street lighting and traffic signals or from impeding the visibility of traffic. Public tree trimming in Westmount is done on a cyclical schedule resulting in a 5- to 7-year rotation overall. For more information on public trees, visit westmount.org/urbanforest
