Take part in the Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drill October 18
Millions of people worldwide will practice how to Drop, Cover, and Hold On at 10:18 a.m. on October 18, 2018 during the Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drill!
Last year, more than 56 million people took part, including more than 98,000 in Quebec. Register here to learn how to be better prepared for earthquakes, to be counted in the 2018 drill, and to enter the contest (N.B. the registration and contest information is on the Quebec website in French, but all of the safety information is available in English using the links on the Quebec page).
Westmount exercise at WPS
In 2018, officers from the Montreal Fire Department (Service de sécurité incendie de Montréal) and the Centre de sécurité civile (civil preparedness centre) will visit classes at Westmount Park Elementary School between 8 a.m. and noon to talk about earthquakes and explain safety rules. The entire school will then take part in the Great Shakeout and some classes will be able to visit the mobile SIMulateur d’incendie (fire simulation unit).
