New charging stations for electric vehicles
To offer its residents a better quality of life and to encourage eco-friendly modes of transportation, the City of Westmount is deploying a network of charging stations for electric vehicles on its territory.
Westmount residents already have access to two 240-volt dual charging stations at the Westmount Recreation Centre and the King George Park parking lots.
During December 2019, four (4) new standard 240-volt charging stations, each capable of accommodating two vehicles, were installed and will be in service before the end of the year. The new charging stations are in the parking lots located:
- next to 414 Victoria Avenue,
- next to 1368 Green Avenue,
- at the corner of Greene Avenue and Dorchester Boulevard,
- in the parking lot of the Victoria Hall Community Centre at 4626 Sherbrooke Street West.
This project, carried out with the participation of Hydro Westmount, will allow more electric vehicles to take advantage of the recharging service and will help reduce the City’s ecological footprint by reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
Over the next five years, based on the increase in the number of electric vehicles, the City plans to install several more charging stations on its territory.
