EXO: Trains temporarily stopping in your sector

On April 1, 2024, Lucien-L’Allier station had to be closed due to some major renovation work. The work consists mainly in rebuilding the four platforms, which are at the end of their useful life, and in bringing the site up to accessibility and safety standards. During the renovations, one train line (Saint-Jérôme) will be stopping at Montréal-Ouest station, and two others (Candiac and Vaudreuil/Hudson) at Vendôme station, where users can transfer to the metro.

Sector located between Abbott and Hillside avenues*

  • After stopping at Vendôme station, the trains have to be manoeuvred before they can go back west. They have to stop on the east side of the railway signal located near Abbott Ave., so that the train team can get off and go to the other end of the train. This manoeuver lasts about 15 to 30 minutes.
  • This situation will last for the entire duration of the renovation work at Lucien-L’Allier station, i.e. about a year. However, as of fall 2024, these manoeuvers will be less frequent, since the Vaudreuil/Hudson line will have regained access to Lucien-L’Allier station.

* No train can stop between Glen Road and Abbott Ave., since on this stretch, remote-controlled track-changing devices are used.

Sector located between Hallowell and Park Weredale avenues

  • This location was chosen to park trains that have to remain immobilized for longer periods before returning to the station. These trains have to be kept between the two railway signals located near Abbott and Park Weredale streets.
  • This extraordinary measure will remain in place for about six (6) months. Please note that 12 trains will be parked in the sector, compared to 100 trains going by every day under normal conditions.
  • In order to minimize these inconveniences, locomotive engines will be turned off during stops of more than one hour, in summer only. Please note that exo abides by environmental standards and city regulations at all times.
  • Starting in mid-May, train teams will be using the passage located between the railway and 45, Prospect St. to access their staff-room located nearby.

Couldn’t the trains be parked somewhere else?

No, because of the following considerations:

  • The section located in front of the Westmount Athletic Grounds was not taken into consideration because it is sloped.
  • Nor could the section located to the east of Atwater Ave. be used, since major work is scheduled there before next winter by the Ministry of Transport and Durable Mobility, in the sector of Du Fort St. and Atwater Ave.
