When Edward Bolduc loses his job at the mill, his wife Mary agrees to replace a violinist in a folk band for an evening. The young woman rapidly becomes successful in a changing Quebec, which is experiencing its first push in the fight for women’s rights. Known as La Bolduc by her fans, and celebrated as the Queen of Canadian Folk Singers, Mary struggles to balance caring for her family with her musical career.
