Purpose of position

Under the responsibility of the Division Head of Urban Planning and Regulations, the incumbent is responsible for producing plans, concepts, 3D visual simulations, and cartographic documents related to urban design. The incumbent participates in carrying out analyses, studies, and architecture and urban design projects based on the architectural and urban intervention principles and criteria in use in the City and promote the organization’s achievements related to various urban projects.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate (Bachelor’s) university degree in urban planning, architecture, or any other discipline related to urban design.

Experience

  • A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in the domain of urban planning and urban design;
  • Sound knowledge of the following software: Office Suite, InDesign, Photoshop, Autocad, and geomatics (JMap);
  • Intermediate knowledge of ArcGIS and Illustrator software;
  • Knowledge of 3D modelling software (3D analyst, City Engine, and SketchUp Pro.).

Main Responsabilities

  1. Provide detailed plans and visual documents, perspectives, visual 3D simulations and plans, and cartographic documents in urban design using appropriate software and tools to represent concepts;
  2. Ensure the development and updating of thematic maps in relation to diverse projects, studies, and analysis related to urban planning;
  3. Design, develop, and suggest graphical and visual concepts related to diverse urban planning regulation projects (urban plan, land use plan, zoning plan, etc.) and urban design according to the latest developments, approaches, and trends in urban development, architecture, urban design, and urban planning;
  4. Provide continuous supervision, perform research related to architecture and urban design, and present graphical concepts and urban and architectural plans according to the latest developments, approaches, and trends in planning, architecture, urban design, and sustainable urban planning;
  5. Assign, distribute, and verify work performed by support staff. Determine standards, monitor work quality, and evaluate any results obtained. Make recommendations to their superior.

Assets 

  • Cartography and graphic design skills;
  • Knowledge of ARC GIS software;
  • Knowledge of Adobe Suite (e.g. Illustrator, Photoshop, In Design, etc.).
