Purpose of position

The work consists of managing, coordinating, and documenting computer applications related to the technology network infrastructures, to ensure the proper functioning and optimal performance of the systems. Moreover, the employee must take part in managing computer security, and administering the inventory of the network infrastructure physical components. He/she must also coordinate the department’s operational activities, and provide technical support relating to his/her field of expertise.

Qualifications

  • Diploma of Collegial Studies (DCS) in Computer Science Technology or in Network Management.

Experience

  • Two (2) years of experience in an environment that enabled the incumbent to become familiar with the field.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Managing the inventory of the network infrastructure’s physical components, including IP telephony, evaluating its obsolescence, the associated risks, and making recommendations for replacement components according to technological progress.
  2. Measuring the performance and proper function of material components and software, as well as database and operating systems components to ensure service availability and the efficient use of resources; making occasional adjustments, along with the appropriate recommendations.
  3. Planning, directing, and controlling projects in his/her field of expertise.
  4. Managing and conducting necessary configurations to the technological infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and availability.
  5. Administering the infrastructure and applications that control the surveillance cameras, as well as the application that manages magnetic cards and access to some of the City’s premises.
