Linesman (Linesman – Splicer)

Purpose of position

The job involves building, maintaining, repairing, modifying and troubleshooting on all installations of the electrical distribution network, both overhead and underground. In this context, the incumbent must install, dismantle and maintain the equipment and conductors for the distribution of electricity, make joints on underground power conductors and on cables of various types of circuits; communication between substations, traffic lights, lighting, etc. Also, she/he must install and connect all auxiliary equipment, perform operation, make cable joints and assist the other teams. The work on the electrical lines that may be energized depending on the nature of the work to be performed must be done, depending on the nature of the operation, with supervision or assistance, both on the secondary (low voltage) and on the primary (medium voltage), while respecting safety standards.

Qualifications

• Diploma from linesman school.
• Valid Class 3 driver’s licence.

Good knowledge:

• French and English, written and spoken;
• Construction, repair and maintenance of electrical distribution network, overhead and underground, medium and low voltage;
• 5 KV networks.

Abilities:

• To perform various construction, repair and maintenance work on an electrical network ;
• To locate breakdown and defect and to repair them on circuits and on distribution of low and medium voltage;
• To work as a team;
• To respect safety standards in force.
