Horticultural and Arboricultural Technical Officer
Purpose of position
The work consists of designing, developing, implementing and controlling various projects in the horticultural or arboricultural field.
Qualifications
- Diploma of College Studies (DEC) specialised in a relevant field or profile.
Experience
- Two (2) if not three (3) years of experience in an environment that enabled the incumbent to become familiar with the field.
Main Responsibilities
- Inspects various construction sites in parks, streets and others to ensure that standards and specifications are respected.
- Defines and controls the operations necessary for proper lawn maintenance such as weed eradication within city limits, fertilizer application, land surfacing and resurfacing care.
- Verifies the execution of all horticultural work in parks, streets and other green spaces.
- Assesses, on site, material requirements (soil, sand and other) as well as horticultural or arboricultural needs, in order to establish the estimated cost of work; prepares the technical specifications to this effect.
- Participates in the development and updating and implementation of specifications for horticultural or arboricultural work.
- Determines the material and equipment required for horticultural or arboricultural work.
- Develops planting, transplanting, maintenance, pruning and tree cutting projects.

- Horticulture and arboriculture in urban areas; multiplication and quality control of plants;
- Planning, implementation and maintenance of horticultural and arboricultural installations.
Good knowledge of:
- French and English (spoken and written);
- Plant physiology applied to horticulture and arboriculture;
- Plant fertilization; irrigation;
- Horticultural and arboricultural equipment and machinery;
