Garage Service Clerk (Evening shift)
Purpose of position
Work involving the regular maintenance of the City's motor vehicles and equipment;
The work is performed under supervision and according to the procedures in place. The employee receives verbal or written instructions. He or she is mainly responsible for providing the usual services required for the normal operation of vehicles and equipment and for repairing certain minor defects. An employee of higher rank controls the work performed.
Qualifications
- Diploma of vocational studies (DEP)
- Certificate of Qualification of Apprenticeship Mechanic (Class 2)
- Valid driver's license (Class 3)
Experience
- 13 to 18 months of relevant experience
EXAMPLES OF TASKS PERFORMED
- Occasionally, fill up on gas; verify the level of the lubricant in the housing, transmission, differential; add oil or change used oil with new oil, as required; grease various moving parts of vehicles and equipment;
- Ensure that the maintenance of the required amount of water in the radiator, the battery, windshield washer; add the required antifreeze to the radiator;
- Verify the air pressure of tires; change wheels; repair and install snow chains;
- Recharge or change batteries;
- Lubricate all types of heavy and light vehicles or equipment: cars, vans, trucks, mechanical sweepers, graders, snow ploughs, tractors, motorized rollers, mechanical excavators, lawnmowers, compressors, pumps;
