Environment Technician
Purpose of position
The work consists of carrying out various technical studies involving the performance of tasks of a para-professional nature as part of the implementation, creation, organization, promotion and monitoring of environmental programmes and activities of the City.
In this context, the incumbent must ensure the management of waste, of recyclable and/or hazardous materials, of composting, as well as snow management (management of the PCB, the CFC, use of hazardous materials at work).
Qualifications
- Diploma of College Studies (DEC) specialized in a relevant field or profile.
Experience
- Two (2), up to three (3) years, experience.
Main Responsilities
- Follow up on statements, verifications, and reminders concerning contracts relating to snow, waste, compost, selective collection, as well as the waste containers service;
- Develop work standards and methods related to, amongst others, the collection and disposal of recyclable materials, the handling and storage of solid waste, hazardous waste, and the snow removal operations;
- Adapt or draft the specifications and briefs relating to various areas of the environment (handling and storage of hazardous waste, snow removal operation, etc.);
- Creates preliminary sketches, typical sections, outline plans, and charts necessary to the understanding of the reports;
- Develop, based on the elements and observations gathered by himself or provided by others, the plans, specifications and guidelines for the projects, by consulting with the professionals of the trade. Use computer-aided design software if needed.
Good knowledge of:
- Recyclable material selective collection methods;
- Snow and waste management;
- Sampling method;
- Software appropriate to the field;
- Microsoft Office suite tools, advanced level;
- Both languages (French, English) spoken and written.
