Division Head – Engineering of the Electrical Distribution Network
Purpose of position
Under the responsibility of his/her superior, the incumbent plans, organizes, manages and controls the operational activities of Hydro Westmount's engineering unit. He/she manages the human, financial, material and informational resources of his/her unit.
In addition, the incumbent must work closely with other units of Hydro Westmount to meet customer needs and plan all new work in terms of budget and operations or the three-year capital program (ITP).
Qualifications
- Hold a Bachelor's degree appropriate to the position, i.e. electrical engineering or any other specialty relevant to the position ;
- Be a member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.
Experience
- Have a minimum of eight (8) years of experience allowing the incumbent to become familiar with the responsibilities of the position.
Main responsibilities
- Develops with his team a strategy for the modernization of the distribution network, traffic lights and street lighting ;
- Coordinate or assist in planning between Hydro-Westmount’s Engineering Department and the various entities planning/performing work near or on Hydro-Westmount’s network such as the City of Westmount Engineering Department, private developers, contractors, etc. ;
- Assists and participates in the preparation and review of technical specifications for services, projects, products and equipment purchased by Hydro Westmount as well as technical and recommendation reports ;
- Manages and coordinates with the engineers under his responsibility the balancing of electrical loads on the network for new projects ;
- Make recommendations and priorities to improve the reliability of the electrical network ;
- Recommends adjustments, implementations of computer network management systems as well as new technologies and prepares various reports requested for work planning.
Employment Profile
Knowledge of
- The various elements and structures that make up an overhead and underground electrical distribution network (for example, distribution equipment such as circuit breakers, transformers, disconnect switches, fuses, lightning arrestors, protective devices, and access points, etc.) ;
- Computer software from the Office Suite (such as Word, Excel, Microsoft Project, Autocad and any other software specific to electrical distribution) ;
- Both languages (French, English) spoken and written.
