Purpose of position

Under the responsibility of the Director of the Human Resources Department, the incumbent assists and advises managers in order to promote and develop a positive culture of health and safety at work. In this context, the incumbent is responsible for managing training activities and promoting, preventing and eliminating hazards at source for the City's establishments, construction sites, and other structures.

As such, the incumbent manages occupational accident records and investigations, assesses the risks and corrective measures, and develops risk assessment tools and measures and appropriate action plans. Furthermore, the incumbent manages rights of refusal requests, plans and coordinates prevention and training activities, and actively participates in the establishment of safety on construction sites and workshops by providing a presence and site inspection. The incumbent acts as a resource-person for employees, managers, and the various internal and external actors in the files relating to his field of activity.

Finally, the incumbent must ensure that deadlines are respected, monitor files on an ongoing basis, and have adequate control over the various daily activities under his responsibility, while ensuring that he provides the necessary assistance to the City's various departments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a field that is relevant to the position, either in Industrial Relations or in Human Resources Management, with a Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.

Experience

  • A minimum of one to two years of experience to familiarize the incumbent with the responsibilities of the position.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee all activities related to the management of occupational health and safety in accordance with the applicable laws and standards;
  • Coordinate and oversee activities on accident and occupational injury prevention on construction sites and workplaces;
  • Assist managers and employees for the work to be completed, and provide advice on health and safety issues;
  • Participate in the start-up activities of construction sites to ensure compliance with standards and laws.

  • Related laws and regulations;
  • Both languages (French, English), spoken and written.
