Purpose of position

PURPOSE OF POSITION
Carried out under the supervision of the Director of the Library and Community Events, the job consists in managing the Library’s computer system as well as all the technical services. It also consists in managing the development of new technologies.

Qualifications

  • Must have a MLS, MLIS

Experience

  • Two (2) years of experience relevant to the nature of the job.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Develops, suggests and applies policies, methods and procedures regarding services dedicated to the creation, treatment and diffusion of information on electronic support;
  2. Manages the development and implementation of the Library’s automation and network systems;
  3. Acts as contact person with suppliers of the management system and the network, as well as with any other company whose technology is used at the Library;
  4. Manages the Library’s network, integrated library system, databases, and various computer applications and equipment;
  5. Manages and promotes information technologies and ensures their harmonious integration into the Library services.

Other requirements

Knowledge

Both languages French and English (orally and writing);

Very good knowledge of the field of library and information service, issues and trends;

General knowledge of information technology in her field of expertise.

  • To do research work, analysis and summaries and to write precise reports
  • To communicate with the public
  • To transferring knowledge and to organize training session;
  • Ability to plan and organize the work.

Work Schedule

  •  Four (4) days per week, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
  • One (1) evening per week, 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm
  • The permanent professional must work on rotation, a Saturday or Sunday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm every three weeks.
