Architecture Technical Officer
Purpose of position
The work consists of performing various tasks of a technical, administrative, or aesthetic nature with an architectural impact, relating to the design, preparation, and implementation of land use, construction, renovation, and demolition projects; the preparation of documents in quasi-architectural fields, such as estimates, hardware, master specifications, and illustrations; and managing or monitoring architectural work.
Qualifications
- Diploma of collegial studies in an appropriate field and course of study.
Experience
- Two (2) years of work experience in a position that enabled the incumbent to become familiar with the field.
Main Responsibilities
- Visiting the lots or buildings affected by the execution of construction or renovation projects to assess the condition of nearby structures, estimate construction and restoration costs, identify existing installations that should be integrated into the projects, writing technical descriptions to this effect;
- Drafting estimates related to construction work; preparing contract documents and calls for tenders; specifying, after consultation with the departments concerned, execution plans and timelines, and determining the deposits required based on the complexity and scope of the work;
- Designing and drafting maintenance standards and programs, and instruction manuals; evaluating their costs; assisting in verifying their implementation or checking their validity; managing systems and verifying invoices to authorize payments;
- Carrying out other related tasks such as drafting, consulting manufacturers, compiling operational and technical data, performing topographical and building surveys, measuring and verifying premises and buildings, photographing, completing forms and reports, updating, filing, and renewing technical documentation, carrying out feasibility studies for available spaces, assessing the validity of redevelopment requests, etc.
Essential Knowledge
- Construction, and related processes and materials;
- Characteristics of construction material;
- Drafting estimates and calls for tenders;
- Municipal by-laws and provincial and federal regulations in force;
- Knowledge of both languages French and English (spoken and written).
