Celebrate Picture Books with author Sara O’Leary
Sara O’Leary will be reading from her most recent picture books A Family is A Family is A Family (Groundwood Books) and This is Sadie (Tundra Books). She will also be answering questions about being an author.

Wednesday, April 26 at 10 am – ages 6-8
Irish Author and Illustrator Marie-Louise Fitzpatrick
Irish children’s author and illustrator Marie-Louise Fitzpatrick has written and illustrated a dozen picture books and written three novels. As part of the Blue Met festivities, she will present her books and talk about her life as an artist living in Dublin.

Thursday, April 27 at 10 am – ages 12-15
Turning Bullying Upside Down and Inside Out with author Monique Polak
In Monique Polak’s latest YA novel, Bullies Rule, two school bullies are rewarded, instead of punished for their bad behavior. Monique will discuss the inspiration behind this story, which is based on true events. She will also talk about the challenges of writing from the point of view of an unlikeable young person. Monique’s workshop will include a writing activity in which participants will be encouraged to look at bullying in ways they have not done before.
